Flip It
Now he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness. - 2 Corinthians 2:9 (NIV)

We have new days, months, and a year before us that reeks of great opportunities. Perhaps leaving 2022, you had unanswered questions, unresolved problems, prophecies unfulfilled, or everything was good but you were expecting better. Sometimes what we have was never intended to be our resolve or the end result. What is in your hand, heart, or mind is for you to take it and FLIP IT.

You are likely aware of house flipping. Where someone buys a property, holds onto it for a short time and then sells it (or flips it) for a higher price. The process of having something of less or no value and seeing an increase from what you possess. This same concept is within 2 Corinthians 9:10. Our generous God gives seed to us (the farmer) that becomes bread for our meals. God gives us something that grows and then we can give away or share what we have received to others. You are blessed with a small seed that results into a big harvest.
The seed is very significant to understand. The seed, represents the Word of God. In the Greek, the word ‘sperma’ is translated ‘seed.’ This is where we derive the English word ‘sperm.’ What is significant about this is that before anything can be birthed, multiplied, or increased, you must first have conception. Conception cannot occur without first planting the seed. Historically, we have only experienced one virgin birth. Your breakthrough, increase, or birthing will not happen without planting the seed within you. You need to plant the Word of God in your life daily. You can pray and believe God for all you need, but without planting God’s Word in your life, you don’t know God and you don’t know God’s Word. Those two unknowns leave you in a space of guessing or assuming what is occurring in your life and often with a sense of hopelessness, along with doubt.
Seedtime and harvest are Kingdom concepts that cannot be broken. First, you cannot reap a crop that your neighbor sowed, because it was not your seed and you did not plant it. All you can do is look in his field and wished you had planted your seed when he did and hope he shares his blessing with you. I want you to know that you can have your own harvest. Therefore, I encourage you to plant your seeds daily and watch your harvest come forth.
The second understanding to glean from the seed is that it is small. However, the growth of the seed occurs when it is planted. Once the seed is planted, it germinates and grows into something totally different than what was put into the ground. Sometimes it grows in abundance and other times it does not.
When something grows or develops and it is not enough, I encourage you to flip it. For the seed to produce food, you have to flip it into the ground. For food to become a meal, you must flip it into a recipe. When you only have a need, you must flip it like a seed so that it can produce to your expectations. Start this year with whatever you have and if it is not enough or it is unsatisfactory… flip it!
If you are suffering from childhood trauma… flip it and take your cares to the Lord. If you are divorced… flip it and hook up with Christ who is the lover of your soul. If you are filled with anxiety… flip it and let this mind be in you which is also in Christ Jesus. If you don’t have enough money to meet your needs - then it is a seed… flip it and give the seed. Give and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over, will be poured into your lap (Luke 6:38).
Whatever it is, a bad attitude, low self-esteem, lacking motivation, I tell you to flip it and do it quickly. You do not want your planting and reaping season to pass. Study God’s Word, worship Him and Him only, pray daily, and watch God use you to flip your life around for the good.
